Looking to buy a Type 98 gunto sword- can be family blade or traditionally made showa blade- strong preference for signed and good condition gunto mounts- Looking to spend under $1500 or if a layaway arrangement would be possible, that would be great! Might have potential trades!
Thanks!

I have here 2 nihonto for sale… First up is a koto era wakizashi. It is in rough shape but would be good starter blade. It is signed Norimitsu and is likely circa 1300’s. Asking $475 shipped obo
the second is a type 98 gunto. WWII era- also signed - cannot recall signature if someone wants to chime in. It is in decent condition but would be a good candidate for polish. Asking $900 shipped.
a portion of these sales will be donated to NMB

Tassel looks like a reproduction, the tsuka isn't wrapped very well...
My thoughts are: this is an assemblage of real and reproduction parts. But much more than that is hard to tell. Can you get some more photos of the blade itself? Especially around the boshi and the machi.I will try and post here

Looking for a preferably signed WWII era gunto sword. Heirloom and older blades in gunto mounts are acceptable as well. Open to mumei swords too!

Looking to sell this shinto katana. My asking price is $2700 USD and Im in no hurry to sell. It has NTHK papers and is signed Kishu Ju Sukekuni. The sword comes in shirasaya and is in good polish. Has been oiled and is well taken care of. Minor flaws are pictured. Will consider reasonable offers from US buyers. Also interested in trading for papered koto blades- wakizashi or katana. I would like cash on my end for the deal but show me what you have!

Perfect. Thank you both!!

Hey all,
I have a late edo saya- it is gorgeous, however, the bottom is splintering and cracking as it is old. Is there a way to restore it? Or anyone that would be able to? (dont trust myself) One of my friends (who isn’t a nihonto enthusiast) suggested that I GLUE it. I gasped at the thought of it. Ha.

Type 98 Evaluation
in Military Swords of Japan

Hi all,
any thoughts on the below gunto sword? It seems to come from a questionable seller- some have reported good deals from this seller on ebay and others have reported bad deals.
my initial thoughts- blade is in poor polish- some surface rust throughout. There also looks to be corrosion on the fittings?
