Good evening everyone,
I believe this is a typical story. My grandfather served in the pacific and brought home a sword that my grandmother claimed to be a Japanese cavalry sabre that he had pulled off an officer. The sword is heavily blackened and corroded, so I'm not able to make out two many details. The second sword was purchased by my parents at an auction in the early 90's for a handful of dollars. The second is in much better condition, but the design significantly less. I'm not sure if it's poor craftmanship, a fake, or just worn down from use. Attached are the pictures I could get. Please ignore the cheap stand, as my wife insisted I display them. Thank you for any advice you all can give.
