I would have said Owari or Akasaka, but as I was looking around for references I saw an identical one on Yahoo, papered to Shōami.

(And, I just found a similar one advertised in Europe, labeled - but not papered to - Owari).

and this is why i have lost faith in getting things papered that I am unsure about LOL

Dale, it's copper for the sekigane, it's just patinated. Jesse, the seller told me late Muromachi, for him not sure about Momoyama, he is a seller from Nihonto, he is also a polisher.

I don't think he's wrong, when I showed the tsuba to another exhibitor, he didn't contradict the period when he had it in his hands either.

There is a detail that allows you to contradict the period, I am open to all explanations.

Hi Dimitri.  No reason to contradict from me.  Was looking for kantei that pointed to the era is all :)

As the holes were filled and unusable, it was probably fitted with fulled rounded/oval seppa. Rubbing possibly by the seppa that didn’t have the crescent cut out?

Also a good take! Thanks Mark!
