John is right. A quick look at the Muramasa tanto for sale is the proof of it.
Damn, I was just about to buy that Muramasa tanto... 🤣

Beautiful tanto! Congratulations!

This is discriminatory towards screw top or cork.
What will they do to open a wine.
Kozuka????? Bashin??
For wine, you use
your Swiss army knife.
Of course.

I'm considering going, since I live here in San Francisco. I haven't left the house in 3 months, though, and I don't know if I'll feel any safer until I have a vaccine. ????

Warrantso,
The purpose is protection.

Nooooo
PLEASE keep posting Malcolm. I am another ukiyo-e lover, and I find your posts delightful!

Malcolm, that Chikanobu print is also one of my favorites. Some castles were known to use women from samurai families as guards. I think the women in the print, rather than fighting the fire, are guarding the evacuation from the castle.

I like #2, far and away. Both the positive and negative spaces share a flow and a delicacy. In the others, the tree trunk is too heavy and clunky. #5 looks like someone took a bite out of it.

Kathleen, you can send in your research and paperwork, especially if it is in Japanese and comes from a reputable source.
Thank you! ????

Stupid question about shinsa...
When you send in your sword, do you send any old papers or provenance or other info, or just the sword/saya/koshirae?
Humbly,

Very pretty tanto and koshirae ????

Some of us lurking around here are still astoundingly ignorant (speaking for myself) and still ask stupid questions, even after buying many books and reading them, and trying to sweat out translations ourselves. Nihonto are a vast subject, and I am eternally grateful for people answering my questions without making me feel dumber than I do. Stupid questions don't always come from laziness. Just sayin'

No shields, just intermittently oblivious to the rest of the world ????Katheen has her Covid-19 shields up, I guess.
I don't know why the link was unstable. I usually use Chrome. When I was in Tokyo last summer, there were a couple of places near the city advertising tours of traditional swordworking forges, with the chance to make your own sword or commission one, depending on how much time you had.

I almost went, but backed out at the last minute. With the epidemic, it just seemed like an unnecessary risk to travel. Assuming the virus is better controlled or gone, there should be much better attendance next year.

Will there be a shinsa at the sword show in Atlanta this coming weekend? I dont see any mention of it on the flyer, but there's not a lot of info there.

Hi, Stephan. I may be interested in this whole group. What are the shipping costs to San Francisco in the USA? Cheers, Kathleen
