  1. David, did you clean up the tangs?
  2. G'day James and welcome.
  3. Thanks John, unfortunately, many of us here can't read Japanese. Including myself.
  4. Does anyone know, or has attended the exhibition that is currently on at the Yasukuni Shrine? Apparently there is a sword exhibition and demonstrations by various associated craftspeople.
  5. Welcome John and Alex.
  6. G'day Daniel, welcome to the Forum.
  7. What is the pattern of the Boshi? This is a good indication. Bizen, usually follows the pattern of the Hamon, whilst Bungo , are more Maru.
  8. G'day John, I couldn't find any reference in my books, to Kanezumi. However, there were so many people making Gunto in Seki, some names are surely overlooked. Now, going by the photo's you have provided, this sword appears to be a standard, oil quenched Showato. The hamon is not the regular Togare/gunome found on a lot of seki blades, though, it is also not uncommon.
  9. I would have to go along with Chris. Photos of the whole blade needed.
  10. Don't forget, Japanese dealers have no compunction, about selling old family swords.
  11. Completely edited,
  12. Fantastic! What more can I say.
  13. I believe a Katana by Kanenaga, was sold on ebay, just recently by Candelaria 2007. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-GENDAITO-KA ... 7675.l2557

  16. Not to be pedantic , But 1/8th. Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory, both have the right to self govern. Virtual states
  17. A friend and myself, used to do Arms Fairs. So many, would come and tell how their Father/Grandfather, took a sword from a dead Japanese General. Most of these swords were never brought in. However, I remember a particular time, a chap brought in a "Generals Sword", with a blue brown tassel. Upon being told this was Junior Officers' rank tassel, I was informed that I was wrong and it had definitely come from a General.
  18. Brian, only one state in Oz, Victoria. Still pretty easy to circumvent though. There is also the problem of many older collectors, not willing to pass on their knowledge.
  19. Sorry, I missed it thanks Chris. However, he did make Gendaito as well. A friend of mine, has one of those Showa period, presentation Tachi Mounts, with a Kanemune Gendaito.
  20. Thank God I'm Buddhist.
  21. Not necessarily, he also made low end Gendai.
  22. Welcome Rick.
