  1. I understand, I agree with both you an Dr. Sato about Mito school. The "crispness" of the work is just different between ours, I cannot put a finger on it.
  2. In terms of shinsa, can mumei fittings get T-Hozon? I feel that the quality of the snakes give it merit regardless of mei.
  3. Thank you, for the information!
  4. Hello, I have studied a pair of Hebi menuki for a few months now. However, I am at an roadblock. I have tried to do research but nothing substantial has come up yet. They have a hakogaki from Dr. Sato Kanzan, but it only mentions when he wrote it, material and school. My thoughts are they are edo in age, a respected member of the NMB(whom I will not name unless given permission) told me it reminds him of the work form Iwamoto Konkwan. I'd love to hear any thoughts.
  5. Pete, my vote would be silver with inlays of shakudo and gold gilding.
  6. I agree with you Luis, however according to the seller "the ware is not as bad as in the photos", I will take this with a grain of salt until I see it in hand.
  7. Hello, does anyone know the ebay seller crxoflove?
  8. Hello Peter, are you implying these are older than Showa?
  9. I received my Hebi menuki today and am incredibly pleased with the transaction. Mr. Sala was a pleasure to work with, I would not hesitate to do business with him again.
  10. Both are very nice! For the time being, I will continue to think my yari is late Muromachi, unless proven otherwise.
  11. What determines a "long kerakubi"? Is there a certain cutoff, is it is just relative?
  12. Ken, I searched this description and it looks to be my yari. I am certain it is muromachi, however aside from that I do not have any idea whether early mid or late. The nakago seems to be original and not cut as the mekugi is at the very end.
  13. I would say a good place to start would be the nakago.
  14. Are there any currently on the market for reference?
  15. Again, I do not plan on melting it. Why would I destroy someones handicraft?
