I agree with Chris, the tang definitely looks like it was welded from another sword.

It actually looks like one of the Chinese reproduction swords to me. I would walk away!

Thank you both for your help. The pictured dirk by Ohmura looks to me to have the same backstrap/pommel as the forestry dirk. The dirk that Jareth posted is definitely different. The post by Nick is excellent!
Thanks again,
Tom

Hi Bruce,
Yes, the forestry dirks you pictured look just like the Cadet dirk that Ohmura has pictured. Is it possible that Ohmura is mistaken or are they extremely similar? Inquiring minds would like to know!
Thank you all very much,
Tom

Thanks Stegel,
Yes, it does look like the same sword you pictured, and I noticed the famous grey blanket.

Thanks Chris, the blade is not in the greatest condition. No pitting but someone "cleaned" it with an abrasive. Also the front seppa is missing, but I'm still very happy to have it!

Senior Red Cross dirk, nice fittings. Too bad about the blade.

Damm Mike, I just saw this and you beat me to it.
Beautiful piece, good luck with it. You'll have to bring it to Allentown so I can see it in person.
