  1. It was suggested by Bruce Pennington I contact you on this. I have what has been identified as a special order light-weight Murata-to sword. In researching what Colonel Murata did all I find is the same stuff repeated thru-out the Net. I have the appropriate books including the new "Swords of the Emperor" and hardly a paragraph in any and only photos of handles in the new book.

    Have you anything?

This sword looks more like a 造兵刀(Zohei -to) instead of a 村田刀。 Murata swords typically have inscriptions on the tang。

  3. Tristan sorry to bother you but not being Japanese speaking ..

I couldn’t understand the link you sent me on the Last Ditch Sword which I have posted for discussion .

The previous owner thought the naming on the sword was to the owner not the smith ?

    Many thanks Gareth

I think the name 信田良男 on the tang is owner,he should be a student or teacher 小野派一刀流(Kendo style NOT sword making style). But that's just my assuming. I can't find his name as a swordsmith. Hope that helps.
      Merry Christmas!
