  1. I recieved another picture. It is shinogi zukuri. Saya looks like a Kai Gunto Saya in complete black with removed ashi. Maybe sprayed black?
  2. I have only photos. These two pictures are the sharpest one. I know that these smith made gendaito, but he also made showato which are signed by employees. So I'm not sure what it is. For me it looks like hira zukuri. (but I'm also not sure). My feeling to this is showa-to.
  3. Can i ask you if you buy with a later selling aspect or did you buy first because you want it in hands?
  4. The tang is signed Bishu ju mano masayasu kitau kore (when i'm right). Did you think this is shoshimi or nakirishimei? It is hira zukuri forged in a "modern" koshirae with gunto parts. What you think showa-to or gendaito?
  5. Gary congratulations for this trade, but this is not the normality since internet exists.
  6. Erwin i had 2 Kai Gunto in my collection well signed Nakago and sold them further. I think that the saya of yours i sprayed black. I dont know what you have paid for the Kai Gunto but it is not worth to spend more money in that Sword. Belive me. Look for a mint Kai Gunto with a good looking same saya and fittings in better condition and a good blade. I sold mine very cheap and it takes one year to sell it. Chris
  7. Nice Sword Brad! I would leave it as it is in the Koshirae and don't polish. Looks perfect in my eyes.
  8. On this picture the first Kanji looks indeed different (junger) and the marks are not the same as the others. I can't say it.
  9. The blade looks very nice. + for gendaito. Is it possible to see the entire blade? Look at this sword: http://www.samuraisword.com/nihontodisplay/Gendiato/Kanesaki/index.htm Maybe similar?
  10. Hmm, then 99% of all other swords are not Art in the definition. The NBTHK defines Japanese swords as an objekt of art. And this it is. The NBTHK was established and sponsored by the Japanese government as a foundation in 1948 to save the Japanese Art Swords from destruction So what is an Art Sword? Btw Alex. The hamon is really cool. Pure Art.
  11. Hi Michael your post is that what i meant. You study, you learn and you look around and buy nothing to wait for the right sword over a long time. Then you bought one. You are pleased with it, study it and see another. You must sell it for buying better and take a loss because of the market. I can't do it in that way. That is for me the same as you want go to fly, reading books, go on airports and spent a lot of time in museums. You think as an pilot, you live as an pilot but you never go flying. I must have things in hand and around with me to understand it.
  12. I bought some swords in UK. Never had any problems. Shipping was everytime fast and safe. Alex knows it
  13. Brandon can you show us some detailed pictures of the kissaki? Thanks Chris
  14. That is the most strange thing on this auction.
  15. I would go with luis. This would explain the strange looking horimono.
  16. Hmm i saw it now and i didn't know.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01xg8jb This one?
  17. Very good post Jussi, but i had some other thoughts. If you start, you have no idea what you want. And if you know what you want, you want to buy it and see later something else, you want more. The Nihonto Universum is very, very huge. All the time you travel around and look on hundred of swords you spent a lot of money. I bet you can't not remember all the things you have seen. I startet like many others with a gunto. Guntos are relative cheap and you can choose from a very big market. From that i came to Gendaito - the next step. I sold many of my Guntos making no less money with it and buy Nihonto. For myself, i have a limitation in buying. I do not own a sword that cost more that i earn from work in a month. I know that is the lower range of swords, but - i can sell them easy, if i want because it is esier for me to find a collector who is limited in his pocket. After all the time i had many swords in hand all of my own and i didn't loosing much money. You can say now - that must be a scum collection. Maybe for others, not for me.

    Hagire Or Scratch?

I've got answer from AOI Art. Tsuruta san looks on the blade an there is nothing. The polish is very good, the blade is healthy and well shaped. The signature looks fine but he hasn't proof it. But he think it is genuine. NTHK Kanteisho is included. I bought it. Thanks for helping me.
  21. Hamfish, great advise. I've never checked this before.
