  1. Sorry for the late response. I wanted to thank Chris for the forward to Bob's site. Great communications and products arrived in great shape! Thanks everyone!
  2. I also bought a blade from Steven, he is a great person to work with.
  3. Thanks for that! I'll definitely look it up and appreciate the suggestion!
  4. I'd like to buy a couple of sword pillow "Okatana Makura" and an inspection cloth "fukusa" locally if possible in the us. One kind member here (Thank you), suggested a site in Japan and to ping this forum to see if there were alternatives. Many thanks in advance.
  5. 1+ @Michael Seeley. completely agree! Maybe one day will go to this event. looks like a lot of fun!
  6. Not exactly a new member but a wayward member back after a few years away. Looking forward to these posts again!
  7. While the chiseling might not be as strong as a stamp, I suspect it's left a mark, not as defined, but its amazing what sofware can do nowadays, especially if there is a database of signatures for it to compare it against. but it does sound like a bit of effort...i,e, money no matter which way you go, along with the current technological barriers.
  8. I have seen a few posts recently on old swords that people have noted that they may once have had signatures but have been lost to rust over time. I am wondering if techniques like the ones they use to recover filed off gun serial numbers can be used on swords without causing any damage. (bit of a CSI style question) One particular technology is called electron backscatter diffraction, or EBSD. (reference Washington Post) https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/scientists-develop-a-technique-to-find-serial-numbers-that-have-been-filed-off/2015/05/11/45e76fce-d489-11e4-8fce-3941fc548f1c_story.html Would it not be a good thing to see if some particularly old swords once had been signed by their masters. Has anyone tried anything like this?
  9. Nick, I have a couple of questions. I have just pm'ed you. Thanks in advance. Mike
  10. Much appreciated Sir! Many thanks for your help to me to get one of these!!!! Sincerely appreciate it.
  11. I would appreciate knowing this as well. I've called Singapore K and they have confirmed they are not getting this book or no longer have it.
  12. I have heard that Bonhams is to be sold. That is why some departments have been closed (like their whiskey department in NYNY).
  13. Hi, just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks to all of you who have contributed to this forum. It has been very educational for me. I will certainly continue to review and maybe one ask for more of your guidance. Best Regards Mike Kwok
