  1. So when I first saw this tsuba I blew it off as fake, since well it's Natsuo and on Yahoo Japan, and additionally never saw this chicken in his sketchbooks before. That being said I just checked the auction results and it sold for $27,441! What's your thoughts about it? Think it's hopeful people with lots of money who just wanted to bid on something "Natsuo"? or is there more to this tsuba that I'm missing? https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/l1001421571?conversionType=browsing_history
  2. https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/l1001421571?lang=en&rc=yaucc_sp this “Natsuo” tsuba has interestingly 30+ bids on it already! What are people’s thoughts?
  3. I've dealt with them before. Legit and very good dealer. Had no problems with them and very communicative.
  4. I don’t want to miss this being an Ichijo school fan. To confirm is this on Saturday only? 11am to 3pm?
  5. Yep, Juyo for machibori tsuba is pretty incredible work. I only submitted this tsuba for TH at the moment. My favorite of the Ishiguro school is Masaaki. His work is so intricate and immaculate. I wish I could collect more of the Ishiguro school but the school's works are so rare and expensive.
  6. The 2021 NBTHK papers! I guess some leaps of faith are worth it (okay, and admittedly a lot of research).
  7. Yea that loofah design tsuba is a very famous design by kato teruaki. However it’s also one of the most faked designs out there. When I see it I instantly know it’s fake. Most of them are poor fakes too, the nanako is printed or cast. I’ve never actually seen the real loofah tsuba before from him before. I’m sure the real one must have looked amazing.
  8. Just got back the results from shinsa today. This tsuba passed Tokubetsu Hozon!!!!! 🙌
  9. Being a buyer of only very high end tosogu, Darcy’s prices are actually fairly reasonable. Especially compared to Iidakoendo or other sites.
  10. That probably one of my favorite F/K I've seen yet! the detailed inaly work and that rarely seen Natsuo long mei is beautiful!
  11. Do you know how I can get into contact to buy some of these items? specifically his tanto pieces?
  12. Gassan Sadatoshi is one of my favorite Mukansa smiths. I was wondering is this katana from him in Sōshū style? does not seem to be ayasugi hada looking at the close up photos: https://katananokura.jp/SHOP/1708-K01.html Additionally, were there tantos for sale by him? Especially that tanto in your post, was it for sale?
  13. Very beautiful! I especially love the elegance of the openwork tail turning into the stream.
  14. What does the mei say for the daisho tsuba set? Very fine and detailed work.
  15. I quite like this tsuba, I like the theme and the ura side, those branches on top are very delicately carved.
  16. Can anyone please provide a list of the Joko ranked fitting makers in the Kinko Meikan (or you can pm me)? or even how many # of Joko ranked fitting makers there are? Before anyone points it out, yes I realize the rankings don't really mean that much but I am curios just who is considered Joko in the Kinko Meikan. I can't read Japanese and I'm not even sure how the Kinko Meikan works so I would be very grateful for this list.
  17. Wow, you just blew my mind. That would make soo much sense! Kano Tsunenobu was an extremely famous painter early Edo period and that attribution just fits.
  18. Thank you so much Steve, yea you hit the nail on the head. The Yasumitsu attribution is fine, the Tsunenobu attribution is stranger.
  19. Thank you! I was wondering if this was truly a collaboration work between 2 smiths. I know one for sure is a Smith Yasumitsu from the Mito school, but the other one TSUNENOBU from Tanaka school?
  20. I totally understand where you guys are getting that view. I think the mei looks like a cast or imprint too. However it does have NBTHK Hozon papers (attributing to a Yasumitsu? But I believe there is 2 signatures on this tsuba and a collab work). Here's the full tsuba omote:
  21. Could someone help me translate the mei on this tsuba? It seems like there is 2 mei (one from the Tanaka school?) on this tsuba but I'm not sure:
  22. I rlly like this set, it's done very very well!
  23. Aww thank you. I must have gotten confused thinking the koshirae was juyo and the blade TH. Yea it’s the blade that’s juyo and koshirae TK
  24. I saw this juyo tanto koshirae on Seiyudo: http://world.seiyudo.com/product/ta-120120/ Does anyone know what the mei says? The description does not mention the koshirae maker.
