  1. Just wanted to know what some people thought about this. It's hard to judge from the pictures but it at least seems Japanese made. I of course could most definitely be wrong haha. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Koto-Yari-in-ol ... 500wt_1251

    Tsuba Question

Lol schooled again. But it's amazing how much one can learn just from a simple question. Thanks Ford and everyone else

    Tsuba Question

Thanks Ford for the response and David for the picture, though it does seem that there are some opposing views toward the piece. I agree that the price is pretty high, but I hardly buy off of ebay, unless it's something that just sings. For a novice like myself I was just curious because I hardly saw tsuba done in yamagane. David that tsuba you posted has an interesting color as well, yellow instead of the burnished red, almost makes me think of brass. Thanks again for all the input though!

    Tsuba Question

David and Jean, thanks for the reply. I hardly see tsuba done in copper so I found it kind of interesting. I did google yamagane work after and WOW, there are a lot of really nice examples - quite a bit more than just "copper tsuba" haha. Perhaps it's the picture but the patination on this tsuba is quite nice... http://richardturner.files.wordpress.co ... .jpg?w=497 Anyway, thanks for the info guys, learn something everyday

    Tsuba Question

I was browsing ebay and came across... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-edo-SIG ... 4ab46d17fb It looks kind of charming, and the design reminds me of hanafuda cards. I was wondering though, how or why there was black within the carving. If this was originally lacquered over, or if its just from patina - or if its just fake o.o. Just thought I'd ask and see if anyone knows, I thought it was kind of nice . Thanks ahead of time for any responses.
