  1. So sorry guys sent you a PM, havn't been on in ages! But you can list this sword as sold! Grant
  2. Hey Foo Dog and Katsumushi, yes still for sale. Were you guys the same person, just asking since I see you're both from Florida. Ill send you guys a message though, Thanks!
  3. Mostly collect shinsakuto and to me you see it occasionally. An Enomoto Sadayoshi I had at one point had a shallow one on the nakago and a small Tatsuyoshi hocho tanto I still have has a small delamination on the blade. But only on one side; can reference the pictures.
  4. Was bringing this thread back up and realized I never answered Chris's question! The marks on the nakago are actually shallow delaminations. It's hard to see in person as well as the scan but in closeups it pops out with the shadows. If anyone has any other questions let me know but gonna bump this thread. Going to propose to my girlfriend of 8yrs after she finishes nursing school (next May) so time to get the ring haha. Keeping the same as the last bump $3800 +pp/shipping.
  5. I believe this is a Bugei (Paul Chen) sword. Had one a long time ago when I was in college and it's a good sword, just not nihonto sadly. I included the link below as the koshirae is the same. http://bugei.com/bamboo-katana-344-prd1.htm
  6. Bringing this back for a potential new purchase! Bump and a price reduction to $3800 +pp/shipping.
  7. Hey L, Sent you a message! Best, Grant
  8. This may or may not be the correct area to list this but hope you're able to recover from Irma and take care! Good luck with the sale!
  9. Very nice! The saya is really interesting to look at!
  10. Wow definitely go back to that sword shop!
  11. Bump for Easter and will reduce to $4000
  12. I understand how you feel Gary, I had the blade for a good 3 years after the koshirae was separated and attempted to purchase it back at a later date but alas it was sold again. In any case though, the Ko Mihara is on hold pending payment! Thanks everyone!
  13. If it adds to the mystique I can edit the listing as "The Oni Blade"! Thanks Ray for the information and everyone else for the compliments!
  14. For sale is a Ikeda Tatsuo (Masayuki) Shinsakuto in Koshirae. I actually have the measurements for this blade written down! Like with the Ko Mihara, just cleaning out some inventory as I'm in the middle of a purchase. This sword never really fit into my collection and was more of an impulse buy as the temper was very active. I believe it was used for iai at some point but the polish is still in good condition with only some minor scuffs. This sword also came with a second saya with kozuka and kogai pockets interestingly. I took some recent pictures which can be found on the Nihonto facebook page but I'll upload them here as well. One of the pictures has a link to a book where the smith is listed but honestly I never really did much research into this smith. I only have one original scan that was included in the sale years ago on my google drive, the rest of the photo's are mine. Overall it's a beefy blade with nice activity and very tight forging (expected from a new blade anyway haha). Asking price is $4500 but feel free to message me with questions or offers as well! Thanks! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1542406446018557/permalink/1846792422246623/ Nagasa: 67.5 cm Motohaba: 3.5 cm Sakihaba: 2.3 cm Kasane: 7mm Dated 1986 I think
  15. Hello, I've had this sword for a good while and it has been a very good study piece; but currently making a larger purchase and wouldn't mind freeing up some cash! Ko Mihara in shirasaya, originally purchased from Nihontoart.com. The sword originally came with a very nice koshirae, but sadly I had to let it go a few years back to help me pay for college. I'll update with specific measurements tomorrow as it is getting late but I believe the Nagasa was around 66-67 cm. Blade is O-suriage in suguha; a silver and gold foiled habaki in shirasaya. It does have a little bit of oil staining in the ji close to the yokote but it isn't very noticeable and hard to capture in pictures - at least for me it hasn't impeded my enjoyment of the blade. Asking Price is $5000 Feel free to ask me any questions or request more pictures, however looking for mostly cash since I'm in between a purchase as well but feel free to make me an offer. Below I'll attach some of Nick's original pictures that I saved and some recent ones as well. Thanks! Best, Grant
  16. Condolences, hope you get to see your dad!\ Grant
  17. Holy Crap, this is so tempting. What a good deal!
  18. It doesn't actually look too bad to me. However, I have never had rust develop on my blades so I can't be exactly certain so hopefully more people chime in. Best, Grant
  19. To be fair I bought from this seller before, but before you use ebay check out their store front! They have a lot more items and it's cheaper I think cos they raise the prices on ebay to cover the ebay and paypal fee's. Like most Japanese dealers, they're open to negotiations if you're cordial, but that's my experience at least. http://www.edoantiques.com/index.php I got this really small O-Kogatana koshirae for an O-kogatana I had, and of course, i didn't fit haha. But for the price I paid I was pretty happy . But for this piece, like everyone else said - try to think down the line and ask yourself if you'd really be happy with it a few months down the line, or if saving even just a couple hundred dollars would go further into something else you'd really really want. But check out the website instead either way. Best! Grant
  20. Eric, that is a really good attitude, we all make mistakes in this hobby. Don't sweat it, $250 isn't that bad at all !
  21. I agree wholeheartedly with that statement Chris, this tanto is amazing to me ! Makes me want to commission a daito haha, hopefully in a few years Hey Art, that's a beautiful wakizashi too! The horimono make it really interesting.
