I think I see a small stamp above seki Kanji. Close up will confirm.
Please don't clean the blade other than removing fingerprints if any and keep a light coat of oil on the blade only not the tang.

I'm finding the og tsuba more attractive than others. Proper cleaning I would hope opinion change.
@Ford Hallam is it lower end tsuba?
Better if cleaned?

Gendai by Shigetsugu made at the residence of the Black Dragon society, with nice koshirae
Play the bad guy here.
Before opening I expected something very sinister looking with the name from black dragons society.
What happened to that photo mates?
Kinda garrish with Pastel blue, was happy to find it better looking in latter photos
I'd buy it if wishes were horses

It's a cool wall hanger, better to have that stolen and not something valuable.

It doesn't need a polish Andy. Just keep it oiled correctly, take it to a show, show it around and learn more, which is never-ending.
Great piece of history in your hand learn more about Bizen school you'll appreciate it even more.

Andy may I ask why you want to send it to Japan?
IMHO it would really serve no purpose, for that price you could take it to a sword show that's going to have a shinsa. If you want to check it's mei, but if they fail it that would kinda taint it Imo
I'd have to check events forum to see which one Is having a shinsa.
So happy to hear your respecting your Gpa Legacy.
Please keep us in the loop these stories are what a few of us old timers going.

Why are you wearing gloves?
And what's the problem, none .
Jason I'd buy some cotton gloves like curators use, if you feel the need.
Looking forward to next.
