  3. Looking for a quality Katana preferably Edo period with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon or higher. I am partial to a more active hamon and a tang with a mei. Not opposed to test blades either as I find the cutting performance history fascinating as well. Thank you
  4. Yes, thank you I am really enjoying it. I actually found that link as well but was looking for a more in depth profile and history if possible.
  5. Thank you. Do you know of any sources to get detailed information on that specific smith? Maybe certain books you recommend. I have a few but they just show very basic details since they cover so many.
  6. Just acquired this wakizashi from a board member and new to collecting. Would like to get more information/history on the mei and sword smith if possible. Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

  8. Not that I'm considering it but this piece definitely seemed interesting and was very curious what the board experts thought about it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/180752019688
  9. Completely understand where you are coming from. Any thank you for the advice. Been looking at quite a few and will probably end up running before I walk on this but it's just how I have always been

  11. Ok I'm looking at my second purchase and found a MITSUHIRO. Looks like a very beautiful katana and wanted to get an idea of a fair price. Any help is much appreciated. 12. Fichi is missing a decent size piece, that can be seen here, making the total assembly pretty loose. I haven't the slightest clue where to bring it. From the assessment this doesn't seem like a piece that would be worth investing much more in but I would like it to be solid. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I'm in Los Angeles.
  13. Thanks Jo Jo! As you said at least it's legit so I am happy and was a learning experience. The hamon is faint but can been seen from ant angle. Here is a macro of the blade.
  14. Again I want to thank the generous and knowledgable members here. Very glad to have found this board! Just picked this up and was told it is a BIZEN OSAFUNE SUKESADA. If this is true from looking it up I would think it should be an Eisho piece? The blade is 18" and does seem to have a few flaws but me being a newbie I do not know how bad these flaws are. The Fuchi does need repair which makes for a loose Tsuba but I assume this can be fixed. If more specific pictures are needed please let me know. Thanks!
  15. Hello... just found this board after quite a bit of looking around. Been consumed with older Japanese swords for past year and finally made a first purchase, will post detail in the appropriate topic, and Im very happy to find such a knowledgable community. Thanks! Eric
