DESCRIPTION:\n	Gifu Prefecture Museum is celebrating it's 50th anniversa
ry of opening with a very special exhibition featuring the Tokugawa Art Mu
seum's sword collection\, which is associated with the Owari Tokugawa fami
ly\, to commemorate this occasion.\n\n\n\n	 \n\n\n\n	Boasting one of the
nation's leading collections of samurai culture\, the Tokugawa Art Museum
has been home to swords associated with the Owari domain and the Owari Tok
ugawa family for generations\, all made up of bequests from Tokugawa Ieyas
	u. They are unrivaled not only in their \"quality\,\" each with its own hi
story\, but also in their \"quantity\,\" which counts hundreds of items. A
mong these\, hidden behind famous swords and specialties\, there are quite
a few swords made by Mino blacksmiths that have been missed from public d
isplay until now.\n\n\n\n	 \n\n\n\n	This exhibition provides a comprehens
ive introduction to swords from the Tokugawa Art Museum's collection\, inc
luding swords from Mino and Owari\, which have rarely been on public displ
ay until now.\n\n\n\n	 \n\n\n\n	During the Sengoku period\, Mino swords\,
which were forged and used locally by the people of Japan as practical sw
ords\, were praised for their sharpness and ease of use\, but their value
was often overlooked.\n\n\n\n	 \n\n\n\n	These unknown masterpieces of Min
o swords\, which will be brought together to mark the 50th anniversary of
the opening of the Gifu Prefectural Museum\, are likely to be of great sig
nificance to the public in Gifu.\n\n\n\n	 \n\n\n\n	For more information p
	lease click here.\n\n\n
