Momoyama Owari iron sukashi tsuba

Offered here is a beautiful Momoyama Period iron Owari sukashi tsuba. The hitsuana are "staggered" in the often-seen Momoyama manner, where the one ana is situated somewhat lower than the other on the seppa-dai. The guard is in excellent condition, displaying fine iron and subtle tekkotsu in several areas along the rim. At 82mm and nearly 6mm thick at the rim, the tsuba projects the bold, powerful presence Owari sukashi tsuba are so famed for. This particular example features the "dish" effect that many appreciate in Owari guards (see bottom photo): while the rim measure 5.5-6mm in thickness, that of the seppa-dai is 4-4.5, creating a dished look when the tsuba is viewed along the rim at eye level. $1,600, box included. As someone who collects Owari tsuba from the Momoyama period:

you won't get such a bargain anytime soon! :evil:

Just look at those available on eBay:

none of these is really better than Steve's tsuba, including the ex-Sasano! :steamed:

(the only reason I don't buy it is that Hanry's ko-Kagamishi has left a sizable hole in my pocket :bang:

OK, gents,

I have just bought Henry's other kagamishi tsuba, as nobody was prepared to buy it at the bargain basement price that Henry has proposed.

Please, do not force me to buy this excellent tsuba as well

I still have an Oei tanto to pay for, so somebody grab this one, before I am forced to do it :lol:

I am a Nihonto guy but my last blade (which will soon appear as kantei/opinion in the nihonto section) has left me pennyless otherwise I would have gone for it. It is fantastic, powerful, a good representative tsuba

get this out of my way, please! I have already bought Henry's ko-Kagamishi, then his Kagamishi... This one is sooooo tempting! Please somebody buy it, or I will go bust buying all tose tsuba at bargain basement prices! :bang:

Have mercy, I need to pay taxes first :steamed:

And any purchase like this delays my purchasing of a Juyo class Koto.... :rotfl:
