Maybe a silly question about tsuka, but still...

Recommended Posts

2 reasons that I can think of:

1. The sum of the spare parts sold separately is often more expensive than the whole thing.

2. To have a gunto tsuka professionally restored and rewrapped is expensive. A professional military wrapping alone(and I do not mean the homemade stuff) will cost you at least 200 bucks excluding shipping etc. On top comes the restoration of the metal parts or the same

This goes for tsuka in excellent condition only!

Cheers, Martin

Lately I have seen Gunto Tsuka go for exorbitant prices on Ebay.

What causes this ?

I personally think that anyone willing to pay 350US$ or more for a Gunto Tsuka is off his rocket.

It's like why do people pay anywhere near $950 dollars for this tsuba or ones like it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/STRONG-18-19th- ... 7675.l2557

Makes no sense to me ;P ;)

Three reasons:

1. Main reason is there are two tsuba there, not one ;-)

2. That is a paired daisho set. Stephen can attest to the difficulty in matching tsuba for creating a daisho

3. They're decent quality
