hxv
Greetings, For sale is a large iron tsuba, with a very nice rim with carving all around the rim itself. The iron color is dark chocolate - a bit darker than portrayed in my pictures. The tsuba is in outstanding condition with no rust or pitting or damage of any kind. The iron plate is exceptional, and the rim is nicely done. The tsuba is very elegant and tasteful (my personal opinion). I would guess this tsuba would be Momoyama/early Edo. Both hitsuana have been plugged with shakudo. Price: $575+paypal+shipping Size: 90mm (height) x 83mm (width) Thickness at rim: 5mm Edit to add: The thickness at the seppa dai is a little less than 3mm. Motif: Clematis vines ( I think). The buyer has a 3-day inspection period. If you don't like for any reason, you may return it for a full refund, minus shipping cost both ways. Justin
Hoahn, this looks like the work of the Suishinshi school to me (late Edo period). They were famous for swords, however they also set up a tsuba forge. This could be the work of Naotada or one of the other tsubashi from this school. A very nice tsuba.
