Fuchi Kashira theme

Hi Everybody,

This set came with a potential Koto Nanbokucho blade I recently purchased.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with what the theme of these Fuchi/Kashira are?

Are they a set?

What is the object that is below the chin in the Kashira?

I think one side of the Fuchi is helmet?

What is on the other side?

Hi Gwyn.

Check out Yamabushi, I think that's your theme. A Yamabushi on the kashira and his accouterments, ( accoutrements!) on the fuchi, I believe. Sorry to say that I can't tell if they are a true set from the images.

The theme of fuchi and kashira is the Kabuki plays,titled "Kanjincho"(勧進帳).

The inlay on the fuchi is a wooden box carried on Yamabushi's back to store items for a pilgrimage,called "Oi/Hako-Oi" 笈.

The name of the mountain priest(Yamabushi) on the kashira is "Benkei" 弁慶　.

Benkei is reading out a roll"temple solicitation book" in the checking point in Ataka .

The roll which he is reading out is just Kanjincho(temple solicitation book).
