Opening pages in a new tab possible ?

Recommended Posts

Hello Brian,

I was wondering if you can change a setting in the forum so that links open in a new tab in stead of them taking you to the site directly in the same tab, changing the NMB page which was open.

Best wishes,

KM

Right click on the link then select open in a new tab?

You may want to try one of them new fangled browser thingys that opens links in a new tab if you middle click.

I know they've only been around for 10 years or so...but they work quite well, and us "progressives" find general internet browsing impossible without it.

Seriously....does your browser not have that? :o

Most mice (assuming you aren't on a laptop I guess) have a scrolling wheel that can also be depressed as a middle click. This opens any clicked link in a new window on most browsers nowdays. Guess I haven't seen any mice or browsers without this feature in years. Once you start, anything else just seems wierd.

If your browser has tabbed browsing, you can do this. Probably settings in the tabbed browsing section to control this.

Laptop here, desktop has been broken down for a few months now...

(should not try to play Shogun TW2 with full settings when the processor cant handle it and fries itself.... )

What I dislike in links opening in the same tab is that when I open a link I sometimes close the page and then have to look in the active topic list again to find the topic....

Type "about:config" in your browser which will take you to advanced options. Then edit "browser.link.open_newwindow" to "3" and "browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction" to "0". That should make all links open in a new tab, but may be a little buggy with javascript links. If you want them to all open in a new window instead then use 2 then 0.
