new member with new sword

hello i am from the Netherlands and i bought this gunto but i can't get the handle of.

I already removed the pin but the handle seems stuck

is ther a trick because i don't want to use to much force

sorry i put them upside down

i am totally new it's mine first sword

here are some more pics before i put a little oil on it

i was surprised how well conserved it was under the handle

 

Can you also tell me what is the black paint ?

yes slip of the fingers, Takehisa, paint is stocking numbers.
