Hey Vittorio,

 

You seem really interested in Nihonto. As any collector here will advise you, is that you should first pick up some books/magazines on the topic. That should help you avoid costly fakes/replicas being marketed as genuine. Or you could buy from members here, the chances of being cheated here are effectively nil as we are a close community.

Buying from eBay can be a crap-shoot, even for the experienced, Vitt. The more you know, the less likely you'll get a bad deal, but it takes a lot of study to learn what to look for.

 

The koshirae on the tanto is quite nice, but the blade itself is in bad shape, as Ray pointed out. Hit the books for awhile, & your eye will become more discriminating. There are many posts that list good books to get started.
