Fake - Real ?

YOJIMBO

Recommended Posts

I grimace every time I see somebody pay a stupid price for one of these - there are bunch of them out there, some signed, some not, some with good guilding/silvering, some not so much, some with the casting seams visible, some better finished, etc.  Its my understanding that these are early for mass produced pieces, but.... Its been suggested to me that I should think of them as giclees :-)

Best,

I think, later, from Keijo well into the Meiji Period they made a lot of decorative Daisho for export and used these tsuba. I had one long ago, fitted with a pair of papered Jumyo blades.

I try to include some old pictures but they are not very good.

Regards
