I’d say, shop at your own risk. May be real, May be doctored, May be fake. It’s like a box of chocolate... you never know what the filling will be!

Definitely stay away from the one posted by Showa, it appears to be a pretty blatant put-together.

 

As for the one by Komonjo, he is known to sell spurious things so "caveat emptor"!

 

 

You're better off asking if anyone has one for sale here, I personally own two (and parts of a third). But I am not ready to part with mine yet; but I do understand how attractive they are!

with kyu gunto you really want the condition of the mounts to be in very very good condtion.  the 2 listed above are both genuine BUT all have condition issues, missing seppa, the field grade sword appears to have a shortened habaki so that usually mean's mis-matched blade to fitting, missing mekugi screw ETC.

 

with the kyu gunto being the forgotten and unloved cousin compared to the rest of the IJA family you will get a very neat example for far less then lests say a type 44 nagamitsu.

it just depends on what blade you want.

Well, I seem to remember at least two Kyu Gunto in the sales section recently, and nicely priced. I don’t know if they’re still available but if they are, I’d deal with members here if I were you. At least, you know what you’ll get.

 

EDIt: my bad, they were dirks. There was a Kyu, but it has sold already.
