I have a ceremonial Dirk coming in today or tomorrow.
Just checking to see if i remember correctly. Its a twist to left of the blossoms to unscrew them right?

I couldn't get mine to unscrew. Something under the sakura hangs up on the wire wrap. I'm afraid if I force it, it will break the wire. Oh well, it's a factory blade anyway.

Well its a steel blade but like yours Bruce it doesn't want to budge. Time rusty blade soaks in corrosion remover and dribble oil on post...hope it sinks in.

My smallest visegrip did the job. As Bruce's it pulled up wire. Being mine was missing the large wire i went ahead planning to re wire it.
Not signed, with just three notches for stocking. Chrome at one time the blade will be polished with metal polish and the rewire will be only restoration done
Will post in wanted and here if you know of art supply or access to org wire.

AFAIK its same*

sanded smooth?

reason your petals are catching wire is (i think) the ends were tapped down to contour with curve of tsuka, maybe the caught on things or just for comfort?

BTW mine has a very fine edge. like Doug on FWF it will cut!
