Hello , I am new on here, :)   I am just learning but have had an interest in the art of the Japanese sword and the art of the tsuba . I have included a photo without flash to try to show the iron 's natural patina, the sharper images are using a flash which has made them look darker.

The shape is oval , the height is 67 mm , width 60mm , nakago ana 28mm   thickness 5mm

It has some 'bones' around the outside .

I would be grateful for any ideas as to which era this might be.

Third option, using older terminology not seen in newer books. You can come across it in Tosogu Vol. 1 translated by Markus:

"Kyoto Kanayama"

Those made in or for Kyoto area that reflect the appreciation for Kanayama works.

Often the sukashi is a bit more crowded in design and they more tekkotsu impregnated than earlier Owari area Kanayama.

More Versace than Versace.
