Tokubetsu Hozon Katana In Full Polish with Custom Shirasaya

Recommended Posts

I bought this beautiful shinshinto katana from our great member here few months back. I was planning to keep it forever but as life turned out something just not meant to last forever. It is very sad for me to sell this piece but it did however provided me with an excellent opportunity to study nihonto and it was a great pleasure having it.

For sale is a beautiful shinshinto Katana in full polish and NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon certificate.
The blade is signed Minamoto Yoshitsugu and dated 1860. It also has the name of the samurai who commissioned this blade on the nakago.

The Grain is tightly forged with a O-mokume hada, and Suguha Hamon that remains very strong even along the Boshi. The weight of the blade is 850g, with a Nagasa of 70.7cm.
John Tirado was commissioned to made a new ireko shirasaya and a great solid two piece Habaki containing almost one ounce of gold.

Translation of Markus Sesko research about the smith and original owner (a three page typed report which is quite interesting and informative) will also be provided.

Currently the sword is in Vancouver BC Canada and I hope this is also a good opportunity for any Canadian collector to be able to purchase this magnificent piece without custom fees.

SOLD

Thank you for looking at my ad.
