Help Translating Tang and scabbard on Shin-Gunto

Hello all,

I am seeking assistance with translating several areas of a Type 44 Shin-Gunto.

There is Text on the Scabbard and Tang.

I have provided pictures of all markings found on the blade and weapon components.

The date has been already identified in my other thread but there was some discussion about the signature. I have included all image portions simply for completeness.

I have a thread in the Military Weapons section of our forums here if you want to see more images and discussion as i discover more about this item.

http://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/28516-shin-gunto-research-what-do-i-have/

Please ignore the colored arrows as they were for images and discussion in the other thread.

Thank you all for your assistance.

俊治 Toshiharu

昭和二十年一月 Shōwa 20 nen, ichigatsu

You can find another Toshiharu signature exactly like yours at the site below

The writing on the scabbard appears to be Chinese. I would guess it is the name of a location. The kanji on this scabbard are often used phonetically to write non-Chinese place names.

恩他呢 ?

卡土里 ?

Well, 卡土里 is in Chinese a foreign word 'kaluli' or calorie in English. It could also be Kalu village or Card Street village. 恩他呢 'guntaanei' means 'whatever' or 'doesn't matter'. I can't think of a place name or given name that coincides with these phonemes, but, could be some foreign name, or different dialect.
