Translation Assistance, Please

I recently received what I believe is a type 98 Shin Gunto as a gift (a really great gift) and have been unable to figure out the smith. I’m as green as they come as far as collecting, etc. I would really appreciate the assistance. Trying to figure out how to post pics, and will do so ASAP. Thank

     Here are the pictures. Again, any help is greatly appreciated. I spent some time trying to figure this out on different websites and didn't make a lot of headway.

 

Pic keeps flipping but the last two show proper direction of the kanji.

Grey, my name is Brian, btw. Is this likely to be an actual Kanesada? I did a quick search and the last Kanesada died in 1903. Are there other pictures I could take that would help? Is this machine made as I’d guess or actually handmade? I’ve no intention of selling it, regardless if it’s worth $100 or $10,000, just very curious. Thank you

Hi Brian,

The arsenal stamp above the signature tells us this is not traditionally made and from WWII.  Unless someone knows something about this Kanesada, he was one of many unknown craftsmen making swords for the war effort.

Jinsoo Kim lists two WW2 Kanesada smiths who signed 兼定
