Louis Mills Sword, On Ebay Or ?

Able Dart

Recommended Posts

Modern Japanese-style art sword by Yasutomo, Louis Mills. Signed Heisei 10 (1998). Blade is made from two types of modern steel in Makuri-Gitae style of construction.

Polish and mounting by Fred Lohmann around 2008-2010. Sword has not been used for cutting.

Louie Mills became interested in Japanese bladesmithing in the late 1970's, studying under Yoshindo Yoshihara. He has been described as "One of the best-kept secrets in North American bladesmithing and the closest thing we had to a living (inter)national treasure," and has been featured in mass media, such as on The History Channel.

This particular piece is relatively basic compared with the work Mills was making up until his death this year, and has an unusual shape, with not much sori and a lot of niku. Overall length of mounted sword is 99 cm/39 in, nagasa is 66 cm/26 in.

Reasonable offers accepted. Do not hesitate to message me directly with questions.
