Cutting is physics. Speed, weight and hardness.

Gun barrels around 1940 rockwell between 55 and 57. Ha katana rockwell > 65

Modern M60 gun barrels rockwell 57 - 58 +

I dont know the exact translation for "Kerbwirkung" notch effect?

Machine gun barrels are weak hardnend because they should not break.

Is a cutting possible? Under certain circumstances, maybe.

Forget all the TV-Tests.

Think on a heat glowing machine gun barrel. And now think on hot steel which is folded with a hammer. Its like butter.

Honestly the right sword, using your points, and a desperate swordsman with a burning desire in his heart and proper technique... I think it could be done.
