Old Tachi?

If this were mine I am sure that I would be itching to see what it was like when polished.  Looks like plenty of hamon, what can you see in the boshi?

It seems to have a lot of nakago ana considering where the hamon turns down after the machi, but that can be due to heat treating during suriage. It looks to be an old warrior and may polish nicely.

You have a very nice sword, reminds me of a kamakura period, Ichimonji school blade I had long time ago. If my eyes are telling the truth.

@ Tom: Unfortunately I think it is not Ichimonji school. From what can be seen it has a wider Suguha based Hamon. I would want to think some Yamato based school and possibly later Kamakura periode

 

The blade is rather healthy and I think it should polish well. The tang is unfortunately in poor condition. Some of the rust can be cleaned but the pitting will remain.

Luis, you may be seeing the old hadori, rather than the actual hamon. Hard to tell from the photos. I agree with the others that it's worth having a window done, if not a full polish.

Back to the sword, does it have any activity in the hamon?   Ashi or ko-ashi for example?  It looks old to me too, and it was long originally, assuming it was not altered to appear older than it is.
