Need Help With Odd Ww2 Officers Sword

Hello, I’m new here, and of course it’s because I need help. I recently came across this combination, a Last ditch arisaka type 99 and what I believe is an officers sword. Now, the story given to me was they came back with a soldier from Japan, but with no papers I’m skeptical. However, they do look the part.

Was wondering if some of you fine folks could help me out on what I have here? The only markings I can find on the blade is the signature under the hilt. No other arsenal or serial numbers. The rifle also has some markings on the side, maybe someone could read that as well? If you need any more pictures I will try my best. I put some cornstarch on it to try to make it stand out. Looking at the pictures it appears some rubbed off already.

EDIT: It appears an arfcom buddy DaveM4P99 posted pictures here somewhere and replied to my original thread. Thanks to him for his help.
