The individual who previously purchased the Hisakuni gendaito here from another seller offered the sword to me in partial trade. If anyone is interested, please see below for details.

This is a gendaito by the WWII smith Koga Tamijo Hisakuni (古賀 民蔵 久國). This smith was born in 1895 and worked in Fukuoka. He seems to have been a very skillful smith and was placed as 上上作 (JOJO SAKU) in 1942 within Kurihara Hikosaburo Akihide's ranking of 400 smiths. This piece measures 68cm (it is longer than average) and is in shirasaya with a healthy ubu-ba. It is 33mm wide and 7mm thick. The hamon is an interesting suguha with areas of nijuba and koichigaiba. There are nie along the habuchi, which become ara-nie in spots. There are small ashi and yo throughout the hamon. The sword is in a nice shirasaya, the saya of which has become separated and will need to be reglued.
