Ray Singer
I picked this one up as a study piece a little while back. It was evident when I found it that there was no boshi, but that the hamon was potentially interesting, looked to be of high quality and that it was worth additional study. Some uchiko, oil and much elbow grease later it shows to have quite a beautiful hamon. Soshu-den, with some feeling of Shizu. The last 4 centimeters of the nakago show much age, I feel potentially Nambokucho. I would want to be clear that there is no boshi, and this means that the sword has a fatal flaw. Quite a bit of the original length has been lost to breakage, not simply a small section of the original kissaki. I suppose that one could have a Satsuma-age done or make this into something like a nata, but I think its best enjoyed as is. The blade comes with a nice silver foil habaki and no other mountings. $275 (plus shipping and PayPal) Best regards, Ray
