Hojoji Tachibana Sadanobu

Any chance of someone out there in sword cyberspace having a known good oshigata of this smith: Hojoji Tachibana Sadanobu

I have a group index of over 50 Japanese sword references (all the major and quite a few minor) and sorry to say that Sadanobu is included in none of them. The only Sadanobu that made it into the index signed "Bishu Onomichi Ju Goami" and has a date of 1494.

Fujishiro's list's this smith but doesn't have an oshigata for comparison. Perhaps one will turn up.

Hi Ed,Your Sadanobu (SAD 582) lived at the wrong time at the wrong town (Osaka) with more than a dozen of the best Shinto swordsmith around him.Only (very) poor samurai would have bought a sword made by him.One advantage:nobody would have faked his Mei!Ludolf

PS.There is no Mei-pic in all my index books or the Shinto Taikan (or REI-magazine or auction catalogues or other publications)

Fujishiro's rates his work as chujosaku and wazamono.

Whether he had rich or poor customers, he must have forged decent swords.

 

Still hope to find one to compare it to.

I find it difficult to believe there is not one extant example.
