Hagrid's " you touch it, you bought it " auction chicago

Recommended Posts

My favorite wild and crazy guy, Hagrid ( aka walberg ) ran a few auctions at the chicago show just ended.

Rule is you touch it while he's holding it up for examination, you bought it.

Tsuba marked at 800+ sometimes started with opening bid ( called by the man himself ) at 400, no taker? then 350, still no taker ? 300 !! that's when it went wild...........Barry H. got a very GOOD signed tsuba for a very good price, clearly he won one of the best deal.

At the very low bid, when there's no bidder, then participants can call out their own low bid like 100, then Hagid will say 120, and the item can go back up.............

It's lots of fun.

I bought two tsuba out of impulse which I subsquently traded away with another dealer for something I like better.

However, there's one sukashi tsuba that was withdrawn from auction since no one bidded for it at the low price and Hagrid did not feel he can take further blood letting ( literally, he suffered a paper cut when the winner was too eager to take the prize in attempting to remove the paper label )............

here it is as I made deal with THE MAN at the end of the show the next day..............upon touching and holding in hands, there's iron bones on the mimi.

p.s. label says.... Tosho school, yo sukashi crane and snow flakes, purchased at London Christie's auction.
