does anbody happen to know if Zenon Vandame is still in business and what his approximate polishing rate is?

 

His website seems to have been down for quite some time.

Yes he do. He offered me for a polish 21 EUR / cm in autum last year.

He is not trained in Japan but some of his work looks nice. He wants something around 17 to 18 EUR / cm

Zenon is indeed still in business and doing great work (at least with armor - I'm not familiar with his polishing work). In fact, I spent a bit of time with him at the recent Japanese Legacy III Symposium and Grand Tour at our Belgian stop. He's definitely alive, well and kicking!

Hello Simon, your best bet is on LinkedIn, he still has an account there, though his whereabouts are a little unknown. A lot of armor restorers have diverted from it these last years, but perhaps he hasn't. As for blade restoration he's most likely still active.

That's very fair. Outside of asking him directly from LinkedIn for his email or phone number, it's going to be harder. If I'm not mistaken, some of the older members in here know him personally, so you will probably get your answers one way or another.
