First off, here's the youtube preview (again): And here are the pieces: Tsuba 3: ginko/drawer pull $195 + actual shipping This piece measures 70.1mm(H) X64.1mm (W) X5.6mm (T, max) Since this isn't what I normally collect. I ended up showing it to Haynes as well. He said this was the work of one of the northern Shoami groups, and that it was a pretty early example of this pattern (early edo or maybe even earlier), but I don't know - I'd just call it Edo period to be conservative... An interesting kantei point (more visible in the VR sets/in hand - the lighting in the front on images accentuates the cross hatching) is that the maker made some effort to close up the areas of crosshatching where the nunome wasn't - this is something the shoami guys do.. I like the 3-dimensionality of how the ginko leaves are done. The piece measures: 72.1mm (H) X72.1mm (W) X5.84 mm (T) I believe it dates to the Muromachi period, but I suppose I should call it pre-edo to be conservative. It has Hozon papers to Owari, but I suppose on a different day it could be kantei'd as Kanayama instead - but they're all from the Owari area, so.... Whatever...
