Kent, your blade is, unfortunately, a Chinese fake, but welcome to the forum!

 

It's too bad that you couldn't find someone who could have pointed you to real Nihonto during your year in Japan.

My first blade was a fake too. Someone has to keep the counterfeiters in business ????. Don’t feel bad it happens to a lot of people.

 

Luckily I found this forum which is filled with not only tons of information, but also good helpful people that will reach out to you when asked.
