Mei With Kanji At 3 Sides - Need Help

Henk

Recommended Posts

Sorry missed the text info? So again.

Hello all,

Thank you for accepting me at this board. I hope to learn a lot about Japanese swords.

I have one sword that has, to me, a very interesting mei. Did you ever see kanji at 3 sides of the mei? I did not.
I hope some of you can give me some information about this sword and also a translation.

Thank you. Domo arigato gozaimasu

Welcome to the NMB Henk.

A very similar sword is shown here,  https://www.japanesesword.org/archived-pages/2017/9/13/gendaito-by-kanemitsu Same sword on this thread.

Yours is nice with the hi, I think you have an interesting sword.  Enjoy!

Mei on the mune is unusual but does occur, have a look here, http://yakiba.com/Tanto_Sadakazu.htm

All the best.

The flower is a variation of the paulownia crest, a common motif in Japan. It was the family crest of the Toyotomi clan, and is now used as the official crest for the government of Japan
