Tsuba Identification

reboot

Recommended Posts

Richard,

welcome to the board!

On the photos I see probably less than you with the TSUBA in hand!

It looks like an iron TSUBA in MOKKO GATA, but not with four I no ME SUKASHI as one would expect, but a different design which I cannot identify - perhaps flower buds. There might have been inlays that are now lost. The TSUBA looks as if it was neglected for quite some time, so the corrosion damage is significant. This has nothing to do with age - I don't think it is older than mid EDO JIDAI. I cannot name a school for this TSUBA as typical features are probably lost.

But these are just my thoughts and not an evaluation or KANTEI.
