A Little Help? Nengo And Special Order

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if someone could help with a translation.  Google translate puts this as: Mo Yasutsugu Yamazaki Norimitsu  ́in Asakatsu, Roku jū go-sai.

模康継為山崎法光院旭勝六十五才

I read as an Utsushimono of Yasutsugu, made for Yamazaki Norimitsu (???), made when he was 65 years old.

The sword was made in Showa 42 (1967), by Shigemasa, who was born in 1905.  Meaning that he would have been 62 when the sword was made.  This makes me believe this is a birthday inscription for the individual that received/commissioned the sword.

Any help in pointing out my errors would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Joe

I think the customer's name was Yamazaki Asamasa 山崎旭勝 .

The middle bit  法光院 Hoko'in sounds like a ?temple that the customer may have been affiliated to, not sure.

Hope that helps
