Hi guys! Finally was able to add some pics of the blade. Its a bit difficult taking pictures with the cruddy wartime polish, but should help. There's a few microchips on the habaki with a tiny nick near the center of the nagasa.

My question as well: The habaki at first was difficult to take off, but when I did, I found the hamachi was chipped, although no force was applied towards the ha. The habaki appears beat to hell and was difficult to slip off the nakago. I reckon someone attempted to either hit it off or tighter the fit?

Looks like someone who knew just enough to be dangerous took at it with a punch and hammer to take it off.
