My friend Jean shared a Shigetsugu with my other friend Joe this morning.

Thought the koshirae was worth a look  and some opinions.

Myself i dont see it as a Navy outfit. I may be wrong, looks more of a presentation sword to me.

its very sexy.

the 1912 german style knot is very odd, it was abolished with the introduction of the shingunto at 1934. so possibly a add on after the war????

but the fittings are hand made and very very interesting, and on the whole,  the set is a great piece to own

No but correcting the Kissaki/yokote. Someone has been at it with such enthousiasm that there are scratches passing the ko shinogi, the yokote is slightly curved on both sides and it looks like there are remnants of the former yokote. BTW, Lol concerning the oshigata and the yokote drawing :)
