I've just learned the sad news. I've never met Thierry in person but I bought some tsuba from him, and I could appreciate his extreme kindness. My condolences  to family and close friends. He will be missed for a long time.

this is sad to read!

my condolences to relatives and family.

and again one serious collector passing away this time....

" Death, the only immortal who treats us all alike,

whose pity and whose peace and whose refuge are for all-

the soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor,

the loved and the unloved. "

Brassens, one of our late singers, has written in his song "les copains d'abord" (Pals first)

Roughly translate

At Pals' meetings
Seldom missings
When one was not there
It is be cause he was dead
But never, Oh Lord, never
His hole in the water shut
100 years later, he was still missed

I have only just come across this, so sad. I have my head in the sand here so much that I don't get to hear about stuff until someone tells me, or it is too late. My belated condolences, a fine gentleman and a scholar.

Would have been Thierry's Birthday today.
Happy Birthday Thierry our friend, we trust you are in a good place surrounded by wonderful tsuba and fittings, where there are no gimei and all the iron is excellent :)

Very sad to hear about it. I just found out today, via Celia through his facebook, after a birthday wish, for which I apologize sincerely.

May he be reborn in the pure land.
