Offering up this mint condition late Nanbokucho period Tachi signed "Bishu Osafune Masamitsu", with date inscribed Meitoku Gannen 2nd month (1390AD). Masamitsu is Jo Saku ranking, according to Markus Sesko's "Swordsmiths of Japan" Masamitsu was active for over 40 years so the theory of a 2nd generation is possible, justified as we see a change in his workmanship circa 1389-1390AD.
This piece is in nice quality polish with no flaws, nakago remains Ubu with one original Mekugi-ana. Nakago does look like it was cleaned, possibly from overly active rust, looks nice and neutralized. Hamon is something... and is evenly strong throughout so it wasn't over-polished which you can get a good idea of in the pictures. Nagasa measures 66.4 cm / 26.14 inches. Blade comes with older NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho and New NTHK-NPO Kanteisho, always nice to have 2 papers from different schools. Tachi Koshirae is all matching with a nice large signed Tachi Tsuba.
I'm offering this up to collectors for $8,250 plus shipping and any other related fees, Donation will be given to the message board if sold here.
