Hello,

I apologize if this post is in the wrong place or if this topic has been discussed before. I am new to this Forum. I live in Yokosuka, Japan and have recently purchased and registered a Katana in a Shirasaya. I am looking for a place in Yokosuka, Yokohama or Tokyo (or similar distance) that does fittings. I appreciate any information or recommendations. Arigatou.

Vr,

Carlos

Are the fittings for Iaito or similar or "art grade"? You could reach out to Paul Martin for assistance in finding an artisan to help you in your efforts.

Robert Hughes of Keichodo.com is based in Kamakura and would be an excellent resource as noted. Most sword shops are going to have fittings and koshirae but few may be interested in retrofitting a sword into items they have on offer. You may be better off looking for a modern artist doing this kind of traditional work but I can tell you it will not be cheap...

Carlos, there have been many threads on NMB on outfitting a sword with koshirae, so I suggest doing a quick search.

Welcome to the forum.
