Death-Ace Posted February 20, 2017 Report Share Posted February 20, 2017 Hi guys! Hate to do this, but I'm offering a nice long and large Katana dated to the end of the Bakumatsu. It is signed by what is noted to be one of the last greats of the ShinShinto era, Kurihara Nobuhide. This blade is in good shape, but shows some signs of abuse since arriving after WWII, having been brought back by US Navy LCDR. There are surface scratches throughout The blade with spots of rust that were treated with uchiko and choji oil with tiny spots of minor pitting. There are a few tiny chips in hi, but no fatal kizu noted The blade has a nice, flamboyant hamon, good sori and is large and wide overall. The blade would be an excellent for polish and shinsa. However the yasurime and mei appear to be inconsistent with the smith, which points to gimei. One side appears gunome midare with the other appearing quite a bit more flamboyant. It is well done and possibly by the Ishido school. This blade is a monster that appears to have been made to fight! Comes in it's shirasaya which is cracked and has an extra hole that the vet made to take off the tsuka.
